if i wanted to party...

With New Years Eve being 2 days away, and seeing as how I have yet to find any great dresses to post, I came up with a few ideas with the pretty little things I have in my closet. These are dresses I rarely wear but when I do I feel so pretty! Let's take a look...

This is my new Rodarte dress from Target... paired with my favorite blazer, the perfect necklace, black tights and an awesome shoe... great look.

This is a 12x12 dress I got a couple years ago... I love the color! Paired with the blazer and this multicolored scarf, black tights and a great shoe... so cute!

Ahh... last years NYE dress. I still love it! It's just a sequin sheath dress... effortless glam. Again, black tights and maybe a metallic shoe??? I wore a bronze quilted bootie... it was perfect!

This is a little metallic number I got last year as well... paired with the blazer and necklace... black tights and great patent shoe... so chic!

Ok... this was my purchase for this year just in case we decided to do something! It's 12x12... and it looks awesome on! Plus, I absolutely love, love, love peacock feathers! With black tights and my little boots... I'd wear it and I'd love it!

BUT... I will not be wearing a pretty little dress this NYE. You can find me locked in a cozy cabin in Eureka Springs! Instead of a dress and heels... I'll be in flannel and Uggs. Can't wait!

Also, it's a big night so please remember...
Be beautiful but be comfortable... Have fun but be safe!

Have a wonderful New Years Eve!!!

material girl...

(yes... I had to post this picture)

Without a doubt, my favorite gift was the time with my family and friends... but materialistically thinking, I loved getting presents! What girl doesn't love opening boxes upon boxes of wonderful things? Yes, Santa did very well this year!

Anthropolgie: sweaters, tops, a cute little hat, and my fashion books...love, love, love!

12x12 by F21: beautiful sweaters... so sweet... thanks mom.

Rodarte for Target: the pretty little things I didn't buy for myself :)

Sephora: perfume
"A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future." -Coco Chanel

New tennis shoes!!! I love Asics.

Black Glitter Toms: I'm not a huge fan of Toms but my family loves them... these are actually really cute! (Amanda... I know you aren't a huge fan either but you should look these up. They're pretty stinking cute for a casual shoe.)

Can't forget... The Crockpot & Electric Skillet: I want to cook and I want to be good at it. I'm not very domestic so we'll see how this goes. Thanks for the supplies Daddy!

These were my favorites! Plus my camera... I love it! I'll post pictures of the new additions to my wardrobe here pretty soon!

presents...

Look... Cody put the presents under the tree!

He got me a snazzy new camera for Christmas... be expecting more pictures very soon!

my family...

When I started this blog I did not want it to be about me… I want to share my love of style and ever changing fashion. This time I may stray a bit… I do love sharing my greatest finds but I have this unexplainable love for my family that I must share. Spending time with them over the holidays was great… I’m so blessed!

the frye vs. my boots

I wanted the Frye Billy Short Boot so bad earlier this fall... I wanted it so bad I would walk in Mason's to just stare at it... then maybe touch it and leave. They're so cute and so different from anything I own but I never ended up buying them. Why did I not get these little boots I lusted after for weeks??? Because they cost an arm and a leg... or more realistically... as much as my car payment each month. I don't have that kind of money to spend on a shoe! So, instead of doing without completely... I went shopping online for something similar. Low and behold, I found some I loved. I actually like them better than the Frye because they're more my style. They have about a one inch, thick heel and a rounded toe... they're a bit more feminine. Believe it or not I found them online at Charlotte Russe! I don't normally shop there but I'm glad I did that night. Especially because they were only 32.00 and such a great color! I literally wear these boots everyday!

PS: The Frye's are on the left and mine are on the right! As if you couldn't tell from the scuff marks on mine... oops.

the bf blazer...

Who doesn't want a boyfriend blazer right now? It's so easy to throw on over anything. For instance... I hit snooze a few too many times this morning and only had a few minutes to throw myself together. I barely looked at the closet... threw on jeans and a tee, slipped on my boots, and made sure I had my blazer. With a fix of the face, my favorite necklace, and a cup of coffee I looked like I might have had time to get ready! Oh how I love my blazer!

Rodarte...

Please go to target if you haven't already! Rodarte launched today and it's adorable. I literally felt like a kid in a candy store! You absolutely must go... or just click the link... there are some great pieces.

It took some serious self control but I only bought 2 pretty little pieces. I wanted it all!

Hope you love it too!

more ruffles...

I do not love coats! I'd rather throw on lots and lots of cozy layers but if I were to buy a coat... I'd get this one. It has a ruffle!!! Unfortunately none of us can get it because it's sold out... so sorry! It was just too cute to not share.

my favorite jeans...

The best jeans I've ever owned... 7 for all mankind, high waist bootcut in LADK. I love denim but I tend to stick with the classics... mainly for versatility. These are the best fitting jeans... they aren't too high, about midwaist... the wash is dark with a slight wiskering, not too much though. The fit is slim from the waist to right below the knee with a decent amount of stretch... the perfect jean. I know I should be featuring a great denim that's inexpensive and easily affordable... but I think great fitting jeans are worth spending a bit more. At least go try them on... you're going to love them!
This is our little tree! It's small... I know... but it works. Happy Holidays!!!

after one's fancy...

Why after ones fancy??? Because it’s a synonym for fashion of course! It also rings true to a lot that’s going on in my life… after one’s fancy… after your dream. Do what you love, and love what you do. I love styling but what I love even more is helping people. This is a truly rewarding hobby I have!

best leggings...

Leggings... a great way to be comfortable and look adorable. Most people have a bittersweet relationship with leggings. I did until I found the best! American Apparel High Waisted Black Legging. They're great because they come up to the natural waist so you don't have to worry about them "ooching down" or cutting into your sides... the elastic hits right in the curve of your waist. Would you like to know what makes them even better? They're full length... all the way to the ankle. Not mid-calf, under the knee, above the knee leggings that should have been thrown away a long time ago... sorry for those of you that still have them. You now need these! Don't worry, you can wear these with tunics, dresses, boots, flats, shorty boots... this is just a little update in the look of your leggings. I'd order 2 pair... you're going to love them!

Also, I recommend sticking with black... colored leggings can be difficult.

One more little tip: Those leggings I told you to trash... maybe keep them to wear to the gym or of for lounging. Just make sure you keep your old far, far away from your new in that closet of yours! We don't want those to get mixed up! :)

these are a few of my favorite things...

My current obsessions...

Blistex Lip Medex... absolutely, positively can't live without it.
My Teasing Comb... this hair is not the same without it! Ask my coworkers! :)
Soap & Glory Righteous Body Butter... it's my perfume too!
My Nalgene... I never buy a bottle of water.
Genesis Acai Juice... it's so good!
Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss... it stays on for hours!
Pandora Radio... it's pure genius!
Spin Class... I'm addicted!
Glamour Magazine... it's my fave!

I hope you try them all!

the perfect tank

I found the perfect layering tank!! I am always on the hunt for the perfect one... not too long, short... high cut, low cut... thick, thin... and so on. I'm very particular about my underpinnings and I found the one! Where??? Target of course! Juniors department... it's the Mossimo long and lean. They have the perfect amount of stretch, a variety of colors and sizes, and they're only 7.99! Unless you go online and get them for 2.44!!! I of course bought 3... in store at full price before I saw this lovely little deal online. Not a problem though... they're perfect!

PS: I bought the wristlet... match made in heaven!

ruffle dress

So we're right in the middle of the holidays... which means holiday parties! This might just be one of the cutest dresses I've seen this season. The color is so rich and romantic... and that ruffle is so dramatic. I love it! I believe it's made out of a thick satin... aka 100% polyester... classic F21 style. Although... for $36 you can't really blame them! It's so adorable! This would be great paired with black/charcoal opaque tights and a black chunky heel or bootie. Throw on a few bangles and you're good to go! Can you see it??? I can. Have fun at your party!

my favorite quote

"The idea is to remain in the state of constant departure while always arriving... saves on introductions and goodbyes. The ride does not require an explanation, just occupants, and that is where you come in.

It's like you come onto this planet in a crayon box. Now you may get the 8-pack, or you may get the 16-pack... it's all in what you do with the crayons, the colors, that you're given. Don't worry about drawing within the lines, or coloring outside the lines; I say color outside the lines, you know what I mean?"

-from the movie Waking Life

I don't know why... but it's always stuck with me.

the wristlet

I saw this today and fell in love with it! It's small... perfect size for the necessities though. It looks like a million bucks in person. I didn't buy it because I don't need it... probably will because I want it! We'll see if I dream about it... if so then it's definitely meant to be.

the necklace

So I promised the necklace... and here it is. This is the perfect necklace because it goes with almost everything! The multicolored metal with the strand of rhinestones and stand of pearls is the perfect blend for the perfect necklace. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Also... Its $6.80 at Forever21!

my first...

This is my beautiful friend Kelsey. Her outfit in this picture is everything I love... a dress, cardigan, tights, boots, hat, and pretty jewelry. This is my ultimate go to outfit. I just love this casual little dress! Besides yellow and gray being my favorite colors, and it being a 2fer dress, it has the ruffle around the neckline for a subtle feminine touch. And that hat... anyone who knows me knows I love a good hat! This one works because it ties her entire outfit together in a more casual way... she definitely would have been just as cute without it though. I love that she has done black on bottom as well as a black cardigan... everyone needs a good black cardigan and great black opaque tights. (Target has good ones) Besides the dress and the tights, everything else Kelsey is wearing is from Forever21. This look is inexpensive and adorable. It can easily work during the day and then at night with a little toss of the hair and a great pair of heels. Love her necklace? Stay tuned... I'll be posting that great necklace very soon!

Also, a 2fer is a dress that looks like a top and a skirt combined. :)

intro...

Hmm... Where do I begin? I believe my love of fashion started in the fourth grade... and it just grew from there. I studied fashion in college and during school I worked for Mason's which is a local boutique. While working there I realized how much I loved styling our customers. I loved it so much that I starting styling outside of work... I called it "doing closets." This process includes reorganizing the closet, updating the wardrobe by personal shopping, and creating a lookbook. What makes it even better is that I shop on a budget. Almost all of the clothing I shop for is from Forever21 and Target... mainly because that's how I dress myself. I love pretty things and what's great about these two places is they have stylish clothing I want for a price that won't break the bank. Luckily, I do visuals for Forever21 these days so I get first dibs on all of the new merchandise. Not only do I love staying on top of the trends but it’s also my job! If this interests you, feel free to contact me via email and we can set up an appointment and get started on your new wardrobe!
