snow day...

Happy Snow Day! Well I understand it's snow day #2... we didn't have access to internet yesterday due to the storm. I hope you all here and near have enjoyed the snow the past couple of days. I know we have... lots of movies, lots of food, and lots of quality time on the couch. I did go outside for approximately 10 minutes today... long enough to take a picture in the snow and have a snowball fight. I did not win the snowball fight... I wound up soaking wet and freezing! {My body is not made for freezing cold weather... or maybe it is but I just hate it.}
We are now on to another movie... please enjoy this time when you absolutely have to be lazy.

deja vu...

This exact week, last year, we had ice storm 2009. For those of you near (and in Antarctica), you understand... for those of you far away, you don't want to experience it. Granted it's not as catastrophic as Haiti or Katrina, which I am greatly thankful for... but it was not pleasant. Our electricity went out... not something I am familiar with. I love the heater, love the hot water, love the hot food, love going anywhere I want and so on. My point in all of this is that we are expected to have a repeat starting tonight. Yes, that's right... ice storm 2010. Really Old Man Winter??? Well, we're ready... head lamps and all. So please, grab your Uggs and your favorite cozy sweater and stay bundled. Let's hope it's not too bad this year!
Keep warm!!!

I found the perfect shoe!!! Don't get too excited though... unless you want to pay an arm and a leg... or the entire $950. So sorry! Now I'm on the hunt for a cheaper version.

I love Sundays! It's my favorite day of the week. This picture has nothing to do with anything I did today but it represents Sundays in my mind. Today was lovely... slept in, vegged in front of the television with my laptop {literally in my lap} for hours. I ultimately made it to the grocery, made homemade chicken soup while I cleaned, did the laundry, painted my nails... basically did all of the things I don't make time for during the week.
Oh how I love Sundays! Now back to the routine...

After a long day of running around town in the rain, Cody and I opted for Italian! We went to the cutest Italian restaurant in the area... Pesto Cafe. It's so small but full of character with the dim lighting and the red and white checked table cloths on the tiny table for two. Our candle lit dinner with a bottle of Italian wine was the perfect end to our Saturday.

I got new shoes!!! We went shopping yesterday and walked into a huge sale at Banana Republic. These little gems were $30! Shocked? I was too. Normally I wouldn't even think about purchasing shoes from Banana because I know they're super pricey. These were a tiny little exception though... hello $30!!! They're beautiful and a great color. I will definitely wear them but I'm still on the hunt for the prefect Spring shoe... preferably nude patent flats.

a staple...

Tess Labeth
This top is called "summer staple" and that's exactly what it is... a staple. I want both colors to throw on during those hot summer days. Although, you better believe I'm probably going to wear it the day after I get it (when my order gets in next week) and wear it with a cardi or jacket. Yes I will... right in the middle of winter! Summer staple??? No no... this is a must-have-right-now-regardless-of-the-season-item.

Now I can't make up my mind on this one. I think it's sweet but the hearts throw me off. Although, I do love the cut, color, and fabric... silk. The back of it is quite classy too. Oh it's only 24.80! Hmm, five to one... sounds like I should get it. That 'one' is a pretty big 'one' though!
After a few seconds of deep thought I've realized that the print trumps all aspects I love about this top... too bad.

I told you I was in the mood for tops... so here's another. I actually have this one. We got it in a few weeks ago and I snatched it up immediately. Normally I prefer not to wear black tops but I love the cut of this one and it's silk. Had to have it and I'm glad I do! I wore it yesterday with my dark skinny jeans, my fave dark snake skin flats (will blog about them soon), and my bf blazer. Love!

Dearest Rachel... it was such a pleasure to meet you today! Rachel reads my blog and recognized me in the store today when she was shopping. It's such a coincidence because I had this top saved to blog about and she bought it in-store today. Great taste!
This top is so cute... looks a little anthropology huh? It is perfect for Spring. Although, it is sheer and has cut-outs so a cami will be necessary. Super cute and incredibly inexpensive!
Great pick Rachel!

I love this top... the color is beautiful! This is a great way to add a little color to your January and a perfect for the transition into Spring. Wear it with a cardigan or jacket now and slowly wait for the weather get warm so you can pull that cardi off! I'm slightly obsessed with the tops we've been getting in-store lately... you may see several random posts of tops I love. ;)

This is one of my clients... Amanda and her cute little family. Amanda has been one of my customers for years and I think she's absolutely fabulous. She had her precious little girl about 2 years ago and stopped buying for herself... which put her in a little slump. She was loving her life but needed an update in her wardrobe after the pregnancy. We talked about it for several months and then finally one day she called and wanted me to come... so I did. We sat for hours and talked about her lifestyle now after having her baby, what she wants out of her wardrobe, and then we went through her closet to get rid of the things she didn't need anymore.
(For example, your very first pair of Seven jeans you got 8 years ago and never ever wear... those might have seen better days. It may be time to get a new pair!)
While going through her closet we found pieces that she and I both loved and didn't want to get rid of... we just needed a new pant or new shoes to update it. So I made a list of items we needed to search for. Almost everything Amanda had that we kept could have easily been worn with a black cigarette pant... therefore, we added black cigarette pant to the list of things to get. After going through her entire closet and making the list all that was left to do was go shopping! I went shopping for her and then a few days later we went shopping together.
We had an appointment a little while after the shopping day to put all of her new outfits together into a lookbook. Well, for those of you who don't know Amanda... she is a beautiful woman with a great sense of style. She knows how to dress herself like the classy woman she is. In other words, she didn't need my help with her outfits... she was set. After updating her closet with the latest trends this hot mama knew exactly what she was doing. I did end up going to her house for the lookbook appointment... and I told her she did not need me! She agreed... and is comfortable creating outfits without the lookbook.
Not only was Amanda one of my clients, she has become a dear friend of mine. She and another client were the inspiration for my blog... you can thank them! ;) I have barely mentioned her little girl Addison... isn't she so cute? I just love her! Now, I don't know her husband very well but don't they make the cutest family? I loved this picture and had to post it!

This is one of Cody's birthday presents! It's a canvas a friend of mine painted... she's actually one of my clients. I fell in love with it when I saw it! It's a painting of the names of the streets in Fayetteville... the main streets in town and on the UofA campus. It may not mean much to those of you who aren't from around here but to most Arkansan's and University of Arkansas grads this is a special piece. He absolutely loved it!!!

My bf's birthday is this weekend and I'm so excited! We have several events planned for the celebration... mainly dinners. The first... birthday dinner with his family Friday night. What ever shall I wear? Well, I love a good cream lace top. With this I think I'll just stick with the basics... my favorite jeans, gray cardigan, and boots. (all of which I have posted already) I'll probably throw on my pretty necklace that goes with everything too! Nice and simple... I think this will work!
I'm saving Saturday for another post! Stay tuned! ;)

my favorite libation...
Posted by
Tess Labeth
Even if red wine is not your speed, give Ménage à Trois Red a try. This wine exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Three saucy grapes make up the blend. Zinfandel adds a juicy character, Merlot mellows and Cabernet adds backbone. Forward, spicy and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect trio.
This is my favorite wine... they make white and rose versions as well. I highly recommend it!

I had a friend contact me for a few dress ideas for a baby shower. While I was shopping around I found this lovely little number. I think it's so pretty! It's Love21... which is the more sophisticated line Forever 21 carries. How cute would this be with black tights, little tan/gray bootie, and a gray cardigan? Or... all black on bottom, no sleeves, and a pretty black cloche? Just love it!

I love, love, love this casual t-shirt tunic. Not only is it perfect to wear under your favorite cardi with leggings... its also an easy piece to transition into spring and then summer. For only $10... I'd buy all 3 colors... maybe 2 white!
PS: It's called "silk pocket dress" but it's actually a jersey knit tunic.

I bought it and I love it!!! It was literally love at first sight... I pulled it out of the box, slipped it on, and purchased within an hour. I normally am the type to think about my purchases... no, no, no, not this time. I actually wore it today... with a white satin flowy top, wide leg dark denim, my favorite boots, and a big powder blue scarf. So ready for Spring... almost too ready! I know it's snowing... and I know it's about 12 degrees... but I just had to wear it!

This one is adorable and a great way to change your look and add a little variety to your wardrobe. You can never have enough staples! :)

If you haven't noticed by now... I'm obsessed with anything feminine, girly, or pretty. This beautiful blouson jacket represents everything I love. It's so unique... with the ruffled neckline, button detail sleeve, elastic hem to create the blouson/ruffle effect, puffed sleeves, and hidden side pockets... absolutely adorable!!! Can't you see it worn with a denim legging and great little booties? For a more casual look swap the booties for your favorite boots or flats! So cute!
