ahh...
Wrapping up a relaxing weekend filled with...
Friends, Avatar, government size bag of M&M's we put in the popcorn... I did put my time in at the gym only because I love Saturday morning workouts, then my Saturday was full of running a few errands, grilling out, experimenting with homemade guac, blueberry beer, a bike ride on my new adorable bike, a red box flick, and we got tickets for next weeks game. GO HOGS! Today Cody went fishing and I spent the morning tightening up my apartment and then the afternoon with my dear friend Alex. We shopped... I bought red pants. {red denim is a bit out of my box but I'm totally willing to rock them for a razorback game sometime this season} Now, my favorite candle has been burning for hours... I picked up dinner on the way home and turned on the Emmy's. Kicked back on the couch.
{I feel my need to share my incredibly enjoyable weekend is because this relaxation will be a stranger for a bit... I will be a very busy woman starting tomorrow morning. It's ok... I love a good challenge!}

my little fairytale...
Have I ever mentioned how absolutely amazing my boyfriend is??? Get this...
On my birthday, he picked me up for dinner and we headed to one of our favorite pizza places. {I knew I had 3 surprises coming at some point in time during the evening} Towards the end of dinner he told me we needed to discuss surprise #1. He waited... and waited... and waited... and then told me that I needed to go home and pack a bag... for the weekend! I was extatic... he made reservations at our favorite hotel in Kansas City!!! It was so much fun! Details coming soon.
So, after dinner we came back to my place so I could pack and then we headed to his place because I had yet to receive surprises #2 and #3. Upon arrival at Cody's house... I walked in to my favorite cupcake with a candle in it and our favorite bottle of wine. It was so cute! Next to all the sweet goodies was a present... surprise #2. It was my itouch!!! I've wanted one for a while now and he was wonderful enough to get it for me! I love it!
I was all giddy and crazy excited about all of the thought he put into my gifts... he did such a great job! Then he told me to close my eyes... surprise #3. {I was thinking flowers} So I closed my eyes and when he said open I saw him riding my brand new bike in my very favorite color! Yes he did... he did way to much but I love it all!
Now, tell me that's not amazing.
Words cannot explain... I'm very very lucky to have such a special person.

I love being an Aunty!!!
I told him last night in the cheesiest, squeakiest, I'm talking to a 5 yr old voice... that he was my absolute favorite person in the whole wide world!!! {like I always do} He looked up from his game for a split second, with his little legs crossed indian style and his face resting in his hands, just to say... I know. That's it. I know.
At least he knows! Although, when he thought he was going to get thrown in the pond by the bigger kids... I was his hero for a minute. Then he got preoccupied by some transformers thing. Oh well! Love him very much!

heaven...
Today at work... in the middle of the hustle and bustle of back to school, no air conditioning, I'm pulling my hair out because I'm running in circles 90 to nothin... something happened. A sweet little girl, about age 11, and 2 older women came in shopping. I greated them and said hello... then went on about doing my job. One of my coworkers was very attentive to them... almost as if she knew them... I actually thought she did. They shopped for a while for the little girl and found lots of goodies. While they were finishing up in the fitting rooms my coworker who was helping them pulled me aside to tell me their story...
The little girl is a foster child and the 2 women were her teachers from last school year. She is with a family of 10 children and has never been to a mall... never been shopping. Her school teachers bought her loads of back to school clothes for the upcoming school year.
My heart instantly dropped. This poor child is living a life that I can't even imagine... and I'm not talking not being able to go shopping. I come from the most loving family imaginable. I can't even begin to explain the love in my life and throughout my childhood. I'm not saying she is not loved by her foster parents... but God only knows what happened to her prior to foster care.
While they were wrapping up her purchase I ran over to see her for a second. She was very shy but managed to look up at me... she was beautiful! Her teachers chimed in while I was talking to her and they said that her name was Heaven... and that she lived up to every bit of it!
It took all I had to fight back tears... and then I lost it. It just broke my heart and then the sweet ladies taking her in and providing for her... just wonderful. It's instances like this that make me stop and think about how fortunate I am... and selfish. I get so wrapped up in life sometimes that I forget to stop and thank God for all He has blessed me with.
Don't forget to count your blessings and thank your lucky stars!

just because...
fashiontoast
So I'm still getting adjusted to the new place... as far as where to put all of my things yet make sure they're easily accessible. For instance, where to place my bag, keys, sunglasses, phone when I walk in the door. Still haven't figured that out yet... I throw them in a different place every time. Decorating... I'm about 90% of the way there. {If you can't tell, I hate my life being turned upside down... therefor everything needs a home as soon as possible} Most importantly... the closet(s). Yes, I have a couple closets... 2 1/2 to be exact. While that sounds like a lot of space, it really isn't. I do have it organized, of course, but I need to get familiar with where I put everything and it needs to happen real fast. Also, I like to have a place in my closet where I can put my special pieces {normally the newest ones}... haven't found the space for that yet. I need to find that because I hate when my new pretty things get mixed in with the old stuff. I'm afraid I'll forget about them. So, like the pic above, my pretty things are hung where I can see them. :) They can't stay there very long but at least until I get in the groove here and then I will find them there very own special place.
