Hello everyone... I apologize for my lack-there-of lately for I've been a tad busy. I can't tell you how happy I am with Savoir-Faire! There is a permanent smile that I can't seem to wipe from my face.

With all of this greatness going on... there is a tiny little something I must share. Having my life completely consumed by the biz... I've realized how important it is for any extra energy to be spent on building, improving, and learning more about this little creation I have on my hands. WITH THAT BEING SAID... ye ole after one's fancy is taking the back seat in the life of myself and my creative world.

The week is here... I never thought it would actually arrive. We open Thursday... {my mind gets a little fuzzy even thinking about it} I seriously can't believe it's here. I catch myself not being able to say "I" for this has been a team effort. I never could have done this without C. SF is everything we wanted it to be because of our joined force. It's dangerously powerful! I also wish I could express my gratitude to my dad the way he deserves... "thanks Dad for making my dream come true" just doesn't seem enough. I am truly forever grateful and vow to never disappoint.

So, if you pop in on Thursday I apologize if I have a faint tear here and there for I already have a lump in my throat. It's all happening and this, to me, is pure happiness.

Oh how I've miss you... there is so much to tell I don't even know where to begin.

LA was wonderful, as expected. {great shopping, killer hotel, delectable eats//drinks} Naturally, I'd like to go back tomorrow. Literally wasn't home for 12 hours when C and I jumped in the car to head to Dallas... little celebratory trip for his big promotion he got last week. {I was so proud I could have squeezed him the whole way there} Got back just in time to have some QT with my best friend from NYC and did a little stylin'//profilin' for my younger sis who starts school today. Wrapped the weekend up with a surprise birthday dinner for my mom at our favorite - Crabby's. Now, if you'll excuse me it is my birthday week therefor I have many self indulgent activities to take part in. I also have a little something I need to share with you all... don't go far for it will be coming very soon.

Allow me to share with you a little story about a baby named Corinne. She is 4 weeks old and was born with a large hole in her tiny//powerful heart. Unfortunately the complications grew worse when Corinne was diagnosed with Zellwegers. She has spent her time thus far with her loving parents, Ryan and Emily Moll, in the Little Rock Children's Hospital and was just recently transported back to NWA to stay in the NICU at Washington Regional. As of Tuesday... Corinne has 5-10 days left as her body is not strong enough to undergo heart surgery.

I don't know what to say//write... my heart goes out to Ryan, Emily, Evan {big bro}, and Corinne. Through the emails we've received, Emily sounds in good spirits and wants their time with Corinne to be very happy. Her colors are violet//orange... sweet.

This happens so close to the devastation of Baby Miller Woodruff. My mind can't help but compare the two... because of this Emily and Miller's mama are now in contact. Friends going through similar life experiences in the same area within the same time period... I hope they can use each other for strength, love, and an outlet.

As in Miller's story, I pray for Ryan and Emily's incredible strength... and Evan's understanding for he is so young. Again I have few words for this is something so far beyond my realm... something I can't understand but will learn from as I did from Miller. Corinne is a blessing not only to her family but to others... she has and will touch many lives.

So I ask of you... share this if you will because the power of prayer is beyond measure and much appreciated in times like this. If you don't pray... think//wish//hope. For those mothers out there... squeeze your babies a little tighter for you are blessed.

Ryan, Emily, Evan, and Corinne... you are in our hearts.

Recently I've had many requests for my beauty routine and that is one I haven't shared with you before because it's entirely way too simple. I'm not the girl that loooooves the latest and greatest the make up counter has to offer because unlike most my beauty essentials rarely change. Allow me to share with you what goes into making this face...

I'm not too particular about my cleanser but this one has been a fave for quite some time.

Moisturizer... I've used this one for the past 10 years... seriously love it.

Eyes... I use this and this. ehh... it's preventative.

Exfoliant... this once or twice a week. Stay fresh...

{Vanity//In the Bag}

Powder... used around the eyes and nose.

Bronzer because it's easy and genius during these summer months.

Blush... brushed on the apples//used this for years.

Liner... one swipe makes a world of a difference.

Mascara... my saving grace... won't use anything other than this.

Lips... this balm is my favorite and has been for a while.

Gloss... one thing I do change quite often. Currently using Sonia Kashuk//no link.

That's it... simple//easy... perfect for me.

Confession: There are many times I find myself at the Chanel counter...

usually for concealer in the chilly months or a new lip//nail color as the seasons change.

Sometimes random posts are quite fitting...

it's been quite the busy week.

I've had to make a lot of decisions lately...

getting better for someone who is extremely indecisive.

I'm more happy when other's are happy.

Although... there are few times I don't get what I want... guilty.

For instance... bought a new car this week.

She's fancy.

Also made another BIG decision... details coming soon.

It's nice to be the decision maker... everything goes my way.

I sound a bit spoiled//I may be... but I'm going to try my hand at it while I can.

It's not easy... but it's definitely not hard.

It's so fun... hopefully it lasts a really long time.

With all of these decisions I've been making... I have to rely on other people.

Especially when these other people have very important things going on and my matter is tiny in their eyes but colossal in my own.

I also find myself stalking my email while awaiting responses...

like if I'm not looking I will miss it and it will be lost forever.

All in all... the decisions, the balance, the hair pulling, the opportunity...

there are no words to express my joy and appreciation for the cards I've been dealt.

I want to say hello to my sister who is reading as she eats her breakfast...

Hey there kids!

We has a wonderful weekend which was spent wine tasting, celebrating birthdays, and getting organized. All the while staying indoors as it is 102 degrees which makes me want hide inside//move to alaska. {not really... but} With this extreme heat my wardrobe has taken a sharp turn towards simplicity. I can hardly stand wearing anything other than sheer fabrics so my maxi dresses and skirts have been a go-to more often than not. Cut-offs and whispy tops make for a simple//cool ensemble that's great for running around town. Unfortunately these are the only articles touching my skin until Mother Nature grants us a swift breeze which would be welcomed by all... wink, wink. Until then please tell me if you have any go-to sweltering ensembles... and I hope the sharing of my light and airy pieces is a breath of fresh air.

I truly think we could go anywhere... we made the best of our week long hiatus and I wouldn't change anything. We spent a little time in New Orleans and then made our way along the Gulf throughout the week. Fireworks on the beach makes for one very special 4th of July. We indulged in the finest seafood all the while taking in a fair share of junk food. It was liberating to be far from home and work... it was also quite nice coming back and getting organized. I took C to my hometown where we spent time with my lovely Grandmother and slipped in a little shopping with my Aunt. I showed him the tree I planted when I was 5... it's huge now! My heart will always be with Watts Lane... even though I'm grown and gone. We went out with a colossal bang as our last night was spent meandering through the French Quarter.

The ride was an adventure and the memories are those I will never forget.

I love this time of the year... the beginning of summer. All I want to do is lay by the pool and read. Luckily I've been able to take my work to the pool the past couple of days//something I'd like to not make a habit. Diving into the pool and a good book is the perfect escape...

You weren't as friendly as you have been in the past but that usually makes for the best stories. I left you my favorite sunglasses... hope you enjoy them as much as I have. Thank you for not taking/keeping me under after we made an attempt at limbo with one of your trees. It was our longest float yet {20 miles}... one to cross off the list. We're off again... this time for a 3 day float on the beautiful Buffalo River. Most ladies frown at the thought of camping/no restroom/sleeping on the ground... it's certainly not home but it's always an adventure and one of our favorite ways to create memories. C has all of the gear to ensure we have a reasonably comfortable experience every time. I also take the time to precook our meals and make sure we have a taste of luxury while in the great outdoors -- ie... starbucks via/pint size wine/frozen fruit/shmallows. Doesn't sound half bad now does it???

This week the weather has been on another level. Since Joplin is literally a hop, skip, and a jump down the way... the threat of another killer storm was a bit unsettling. With another storm creeping in, anxiety set in full force Tuesday afternoon which lead to me gathering precious belongings and a couple helmets just in case. Ironically, yesterday I ran across The Burning House... a website that asks, "if your house was burning down, what would you take with you?" It's interesting to see what what possessions are most valuable to others.

As a stylist/blogger, my attention to detail is more refined than ever before. Whether it be a wardrobe or collection of photographs, every detail matters when I place my hands on it. I feel the same when pulling myself together... although my ways shift a bit when the focus is on these fluffy locks. It's mass chaos on another level... in a semi-pulled-together-updo at all times. I do care about my hair... I've just realized that it's not the most flawless feature in all of my being... therefor it get's little attention. After a weekend full of relaxation, great music, and a bit of self indulgence... I hastily welcome this Monday for I still wish it were Saturday morning. There is nothing like waking on Saturday morning knowing we have an entire 48 hours until life takes over again. Throughout this last 48... we made a point to relax, ran around town, snuck in a late afternoon movie, made ourselves sick over desert, recovered with a little chalkboard love, had a sweet brunch with friends, paid a bit of attention to our young garden, and ended with a little qt with my family and a late dinner.

Needless to say, it's Monday morning and C went back to work... and I'm seconds away from getting down to business. So it begins...

Working from home has allowed for a more relaxed wardrobe than normal. I find myself in my favorite vintage inspired tees and cut-offs more often than not. Because my life is more low maintenance than before, it's easy to use a fun clutch rather than my has-been gigantic carry-all. Having more time on my hands has also lead to a little more experimenting with fun jewels. Adding that pop of color here and there may as well be that second cup of coffee... puts a little more pep in my step. I also never shy away from a simple sandal but who doesn't love a leopard kick every once in a while???

Ahem, my little buds in the garden are making things a little more difficult than I hoped for. Just live, grow, and be beautiful... please, please, please... this could be so easy! As a rookie gardener I understand they aren't going to bloom overnight but it sure would put a smile on my face if they would grow a little faster. Now, since I am not one to complain I will express how excited I am to have them all to myself - both flowers and vegetables. I cherish them both! I will also tell you that I was really disappointed that we had to replant the veggies because they died last week. {oops}

Like I said... this could be easy or this could be hard.

Our weekend escape was everything it could have been within a matter of 48 hours. It was perfect. There is nothing as simple as being out on the water with my sweet other {preferably in the front of the canoe with my seat-back}. It's peaceful, calming, beautiful... and a place of complete isolation from the real world. I also don't mind laying in the sun all day... came back with quite the glow.

The waterfall was incredible... we played in it.

A tid-bit of my trip to New York I've been wanting to share...

I had an incredible time shopping, dining, and staying in the heart of Manhattan. My trip to the Met for the Alexander McQueen exhibit was one for the books... I literally could have stayed all day. I found my self wandering throughout each room completely mesmerized by his collections. I also can't complain about the shopping... Soho and I were instantly best friends again. {as if no time had passed since we had seen each other last} It was also quite wonderful to spend time with a few dear friends... Dasha, Dan, and Alex you are too kind!

I'm back!!! I had such a wonderful time in New York.

I have the best friends who made this trip something to remember. After all the madness... after the high speed chase... after the trying times with the cabbies... I came home. There are no words to express the sense of relief when C pulled up at the airport. While I love the excitement and spontaneity that comes with travel... there's nothing like home.

Because I haven't seen my sweets all week, we are headed out for the weekend. First float trip coming right up. Hello Buffalo...

In honor of the royal wedding, allow me to tell you how I celebrated. Unfortunately I did not set my alarm to view the extravaganza... nor did I throw a tea party... nor did I pin on any extra appendages to the beautiful vintage cloche I may or may not be wearing. Just because I didn't plan a celebration, doesn't mean I didn't celebrate at all. I did make my over to Mae's yesterday in which I decided to treat myself with the most perfect everyday piece. A trip to Mae's will always make you feel like a princess - royal wedding or not.

On another note... today is even more special because it's my Dad's birthday.

Tis that time of the year again... time for bathing suits. It donned on me earlier today while deep in the midst of ab class and my tiny instructor belted out 3 little words of encouragement that every girl needs to hear when shaping up for the barely theres of summer - THINK SWIM SUITS. Even though I was experiencing piercing pain in the abdominals, I did appreciate her mindset so I kept pushing. {thanks itty bitty}

While browsing through my favorite sites for a the perfect suit, I ran across the cute little numbers below that I think might just work. The first 2 are the most practical for my lifestyle and body type. If I'm in a suit then I'm probably at the river or laying out by the pool at my parents. {1: not so glamorous, 2: backyard} I also prefer separates because of the sizing... mixing and matching is key with this bod. Also, because I don't have extravagant plans in which I would need the most adorable bathing suit on the block... I'm thinking the option #1 and #2 are best. Cute and practical.

Now if I were off to an exotic island or found a friend with a yacht... I'd do something more like the beauties below. Right??? Loving the vintage inspired pieces for the upcoming sultry season... please tell me a few of you will relish in the beauty of these femme cuts and shapes.

Have I ever shared that I'm the oldest of six??? Yes 6. My childhood was full of babysitting and running little ones from here to there. Since I left the nest, the responsibilities of Big Sis have decreased tremendously... almost completely. Little ones are getting older, they all speak their own language, and there's no need for the big sister. Although, every once in a while the world comes crashing down on their precious little lives and yours truly comes to save the day. These times are few and far between but when it happens my life stops for each of them. When I see tears... I'm there to wipe those away and slap a smile on that cute little face.
